What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a broad term for natural health, that uses nutrition and herbal medicine as tools to improve health. The main aim of naturopathy is to address the cause of a health issue. By addressing the cause of health issue, we help prevent symptoms from coming back again.
From a naturopathic perspective, all systems of the body are connected, including the physical, mental and emotional planes. The aim is to determine how these areas are impacting your health and with the help of nutrition, herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle changes, we help encourage to body to heal itself naturally.
If you are unsure whether Naturopathy is suitable for you, come in and speak to Gerardo, who will be happy to advise you. Or book in for a complimentary 15 minute dietary assessment.
What sort of conditions can Naturopathy treat? Naturopathy can be useful for any condition – whether it has been there for just a short while (such as a cold) or a long time (such as irritable bowel syndrome). If you are unsure whether Naturopathy is suitable for you, come in and speak to Gerardo, who will be happy to advise you. You can book in for a complimentary 15 minute dietary assessment. What should I expect in a consultation? A Naturopathic consultation will differ according to the systems of natural medicine practiced by your therapist. At Cure by Nature, our resident Naturopath is trained in Nutrition and Herbal Medicine. Gerardo will take your case and then choose which system of natural medicine best suits your needs.
Initial Naturopathic Consultation
Prior to our first visit, you will be e-mailed a couple of forms to fill out or come 10 minutes early to fill out the forms.
Your first visit is approximately 60 minutes. In this visit the aim is to identify the cause of the illness and develop a treatment strategy to correct the health issue. For example a person may feel tired. Instead of only giving them B vitamins, Gerardo looks for the cause such as prolonged stress, poor digestion and poor sleep. Thus prevent fatigue from coming back in a few weeks.
During the first visit, Gerardo will review your forms, will ask questions about all systems of your body- not just those you came for. Some of these questions may not seem relevant, but help Gerardo understand why you may have certain symptoms. If you have any relevant test results from your doctor (blood tests, ultrasound reports), please bring them along, as they will be helpful in his assessment. At the end of the first consultation, Gerardo will make recommendations which may include: nutritional supplements, dietary changes, lifestyle changes and herbal medicine.
Gerardo will tell you when he wants to see you for a follow-up consultation. The follow up consultation is approximately 30 minutes.
As part of the initial naturopathic consultation you will receive a report after the consultation explaining your health and the treatment plan recommended will include a prescription for supplements, dietary and lifestyle changes.
Follow up Naturopathic Consultation
During the follow up naturopathic consultation, Gerardo will follow-up on how you are responding to any treatments suggested in the first visit.
